President Donald Trump received an unsettling warning on his final Saturday night in the White House.

Huddled for a lengthy meeting with his legal advisers, Trump was warned the pardons he once hoped to bestow upon his family and even himself would place him in a legally perilous position, convey the appearance of guilt and potentially make him more vulnerable to reprisals.

So, too, was Trump warned that pardons for Republican lawmakers who had sought them for their role in the Capitol insurrection would anger the very Senate Republicans who will determine his fate in an upcoming impeachment trial.

Another shock for the conspiracy theorists came when Ron Watkins, the former administrator of the site that hosted "Q" posts, seemed to call it quits on Wednesday afternoon. Despite spending months spreading mass conspiracies about a stolen election, he told followers on Telegram they had to "go back to our lives" and "remember all the friends and happy memories" made over the "past few years."

All of these facts were shocking for some followers of the far-right conspiracy theory QAnon, as they thought and hoped that Trump would somehow seize permanent power on Wednesday, NBC News reports. But as Biden was sworn in without a hitch, QAnon message boards lit up with followers who realized a violent overthrow of the government wasn't about to happen, that Trump had no secret plans to somehow stay in office, and that they'd been wrong for months, if not years.

Dieses Abkommen ist ein lauwarmer Minimalkonsens, der selbst dann, wenn alle ihre Versprechen umsetzen, vielleicht erst in der
nächsten oder übernächsten Generation sichtbare Erfolge zeigen wird.
Trotzdem ist es wichtig, dass der zweitgrößte Emittent wieder dabei ist.
