Ach ja, dies Sache mit den WMDs im Irak ist ein wenig mehr komplex als "der CIA hat gelogen". Das ganze kam ins rollen, als einer der CIA Informanten auftauchte und den CIA Agenten/handlers stories von Massenvernichtungswaffen aufgetischt hat. Die Agenten haben aber angemerkt, das die Person ein Wichtigtuer ist, der klar lügt, und das seine aussagen daher mit Vorsicht behandelt werden sollten. Rumsfeld hat das aber nicht interessiert, genauso wenig wie Chaney, der unbedingt den Krieg wollte, um die Interessen der USA dort zu vertreten. Laut dem, was man so im Nachhinein herausgefunden hat, wurden die Anmerkungen der Agenten bezüglich der Beweise einfach weggelassen und da einige der aussagen auch durch Folter erwirkt wurden, hatte man dort auch dort klar gesagt, dass da was nicht stimmen kann. Wie gesagt, Rumsfeld und Chaney war das egal, die wollten einen Grund für den Krieg, und haben die Dokumente Gedoktort um ihn zu bekommen.

Der Skandal darüber hat dazu geführt, das ein ständiges Geheimdienst Komitee eingerichtet wurde, die das überwachen soll und hat zur Umstrukturierung des CIAs geführt.

Was noch zu erwähnen wäre und im "The Hill" Artikel falsch dargestellt wird: CIA/FBI  sind keine Organe des Militärs, weshalb Trump auch nicht deren Commander in Chief ist... sondern lediglich Vorgesetzter der Behördenleitung. NSA/NRO/DIA sind dem DoD unterstellt und beinhalten auch Uniformträger. Für diese ist Trump der CiC.

Wie der Artikel schreibt, haben auch zuvor bereits Präsidenten die Ergebnisse der Geheimdienste angezweifelt, ohne das dies an die Öffentlichkeit kam. Im Falle Trumps ist es leider so, dass dieser selbst seine geballte Ignoranz herausposaunt, sich gegen die Dienste (und deren Mitarbeiter) stellt und grundsätzlich eine Gefahr für die Quellen ist. Es ist sehr bezeichnend, dass ausgerechnet die "spy community" hier indiskret ggü. einem "GOP-Präsi" wird, dass sollte den Redneck-Trumpansen zu denken geben... denn "linksgrün versifft" sind gerade die nicht.
