Das Gejammer über Trump, die Weltuntergangsstimmung, die seinen Sieg begleitet, sagt viel über das politische und mediale Establishment aus. Es offenbar, wie weit entfernt diese Eliten von den normalen Leuten sind – besonders von den Menschen im, dunklen Herzen' Amerikas, auf die sie hinabblicken wie auf Außerirdische und Nazis in Warteposition, die Minderheiten und Frauen hassen. Entbehrt es nicht einer gewissen Ironie, Trump-Anhänger als Faschisten herabzuwürdigen und selbst weite Bevölkerungsschichten zu entmenschlichen? Außerdem zeigt sich an dieser fatalistischen Haltung auch, wie sehr es der Elite an einer politischen oder ideologischen Verankerung fehlt, mittels derer sich einen Reim auf die Weltgeschehnisse oder die eigene Isolation machen könnte. Auf diesen zumindest in modernen Zeiten beispiellosen Angriff auf ihre Autorität weiß sich die Elite nicht anders zu helfen als durch Tränen, Angst und Panik.
