Auch in Japan hat sich mittlerweile die Homöopathie verbreitet. So gibt es eine "Japanische Vereinigung für Homöopathische Medizin" und leider wendet auch mancher Uni-Mediziner das Verfahren an. Es soll hundertausende Anwender landesweit geben. Anlässlich eines Todesfalls bei einem Kind, dem die Vitamin-K-Gabe zugunsten homöopathischer Mittel verwehrt wurde, ist der Japanische Hebammen-Verband aktiv geworden und hat seine Mitglieder zur Methode Homöopathie befragt.

Top scientist says homeopathy efficacy 'scientifically and conclusively disproven'

One of Japan's leading scientists has declared that homeopathy is unequivocally without merit in response to the death of an infant treated with a homeopathic remedy last year.

"Homeopathy's therapeutic value has been scientifically and conclusively disproven," said Science Council of Japan Chairman Ichiro Kanazawa at a press conference on Aug. 24. Kanazawa made the comments in response to the October 2009 death of a newborn infant from vitamin K deficiency bleeding in Yamaguchi Prefecture last year, after a midwife gave the baby a homeopathic remedy instead of a vitamin K2 injection....

The Science Council of Japan advises the central government on promoting scientific research in Japan, and represents the Japanese scientific community. At the press conference, Kanazawa stressed the need to prevent homeopathy from spreading through Japanese medicine as it has in the West.

In der anhaltenden Debatte über den Nutzen der Homöopathie hat sich nun der Leibarzt des japanischen Kaisers Akihito eingeschaltet. Ichiro Kanazawa erklärte: ,,Die Homöopathie ignoriert die Wissenschaft und die zu ihren Gunsten vorgebrachten Argumente sind absurd."
In die weltweite Debatte um den Nutzen der Homöopathie hat sich nun mit dem Leibarzt von Kaiser Akihito einer der angesehensten japanischen Mediziner eingeschaltet. Für ihn sei Homöopathie ,,absurd", erklärte am Montag Ichiro Kanazawa, der auch dem Wissenschaftsrat des Landes vorsteht. ,,Die Homöopathie ignoriert die Wissenschaft und die zu ihren Gunsten vorgebrachten Argumente sind absurd."

Kanazawa äußerte sich angesichts einer in Japan seit Monaten tobenden regelrechten Erklärungsschlacht von Befürwortern und Gegnern der Homöopathie. Auslöser war der Tod eines zwei Monate alten Babys, das nur homöopathische Behandlungen statt lebenswichtiger Vitamine bekommen hatte.

Japan's medical authorities slam 'absurd' homeopathy

TOKYO — The physician to Japanese Emperor Akihito and top scientists have slammed homeopathy as an "absurd" medicine, urging health workers to stay clear of the alternative treatment as it grows in popularity.

"I cannot help but feel strong bewilderment" over the recent rise in homeopathy's use as a treatment in Japan, said Ichiro Kanazawa, who chairs the prestigious Science Council of Japan.

"The reason is that it ignores science," Kanazawa, who is also the medical supervisor for Japan's Imperial Household Agency, said in a statement.

The controversy has been fuelled by reports that a two-month-old baby girl died last year of a cerebral haemorrhage in Japan after she was given a homeopathic remedy instead of the normal treatment of vitamin K.

Homeopathic medicines use materials derived from flora, fauna and minerals, and their preparation includes the heavy dilution of the raw materials, according to the World Health Organization....
