kann sich der Leser getrost zurückziehen. Es handelt sich um eine Parallelwelt. Dieser Konstruktivismus ist ein NOMA, ein Non-overlapping Magisterium zur Wissenschaft.

Ist doch eigentlich nix Neues, dass die Medizinsoziologin eine begabte Vorbeirednerin bzw. Märchenerzählerin ist und deswegen als eine von vielen in den Niederungen der wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeit an einem Institut abhängt. Dabei wäre sie doch so gerne eine hochangesehene Wissenschaftlerin an einer renommierten Universität.

Die Finanzierung geschlechtsverändernder Operationen durch das Gesundheitssystem ist seit Jahren umstritten. Die Gerichte versuchten, Klarheit zu schaffen. Das Bundessozialgericht urteilte im Herbst 2023, dass einer Erstattungspflicht jede Rechtsgrundlage fehle. Dafür wiederum müsste der Gemeinsame Bundesausschuss eine entsprechende Richtlinie schaffen. Diese wiederum ist nur möglich, wenn der Gesetzgeber beschließt, das Sozialgesetzbuch zu ändern.
In der Praxis haben die Krankenkassen die Entscheidung an den Medizinischen Dienst delegiert. Dessen unabhängige sozialmedizinische Begutachter prüfen, ob die Voraussetzungen für bestimmte Behandlungen vorliegen. Hinzu kommt ein systemischer Widerspruch: Die Diagnose ,,Transsexualität" gilt offiziell nicht mehr als psychische Störung und wurde im neuen ICD-11-Katalog der Weltgesundheitsorganisation WHO durch ,,Geschlechtsinkongruenz" ersetzt. ICD 11 bedeutet: International Classification of Diseases, die elfte Überarbeitung der Klassifikation medizinischer Diagnosen.
Ziel war es, die Identität anzuerkennen und eine ,,Konversionstherapie" zu verhindern – ein längst überholter Ansatz, mit dem Homosexuelle oder bisexuelle Menschen zu einer heterosexuellen Orientierung ,,bekehrt" werden sollten.

Wer hätte das gedacht?

Diese ,,Entpathologisierung" führt zu paradoxen Ergebnissen. Entweder ist die Geschlechtsinkongruenz ein Risikofaktor für eine Störung oder sie hat keinen Krankheitswert – dann kann sie aber auch keine von der Allgemeinheit zu tragenden medizinischen Maßnahmen begründen. Der Vergleich mit der Homosexualität greift nicht, denn letztere begründet als solche keine medizinische Intervention, im Gegensatz zur persistierenden Geschlechtsinkongruenz. Für Homosexualität gibt es folgerichtig keine Leitlinie. Formal bestünde dann sogar eher eine Analogie zur Unzufriedenheit mit der eigenen Nasenform, die ebenfalls im Regelfall nicht auf Kassenkosten plastisch korrigiert werden kann. Der Pelz soll gewaschen werden, aber das Fell soll dabei trocken bleiben.

Ist wie religiöser Glaube zu behandeln.

Ist das wirklich eine Diagnose: Störung der Geschlechtsidentität? Ich bin erschüttert. Dachte, das wurde längst vollständig entpathologisiert.

Ich warte noch auf den Rechtsanwalt, der Haartransplantationen für Männer und Brustvergrößerungen für Frauen als "gender affirming care" durchboxt. Wäre nur recht und billig.
Jedenfalls wenn ich stoffen wollen würde, würde ich auch den Transweg gehen.

Dazu hatte ich vor längerer Zeit mal ein Urteil des Sozialgerichts verlinkt (ging um so einen Fall in Bremen?). Nicht-binär ist ja nur eine Lifestyleverwirrung, da muss man gar nichts schnippeln (um glücklich zu sein). Aber die wollen trotzdem, dass man da umbaut. Es gab doch diese Doku von der jungen Dame, die sich als nicht-binär verstand, und sich ihre Brüste hat abnehmen lassen. So weit, so verstörend (aber noch in der Genderlogik). Dann hat sie sich aber mit Testo vollpumpen lassen, damit sie einen Bart bekommt. Und dann hat sie in der Doku über ihre angeblich schwere Diskriminierung lamentiert, weil man sie meist als Mann anspricht.

Dass das überhaupt eine Kassenleistung (bei den "echten" Transen) ist, ist schon Wahnsinn, im doppelten Sinne. Das mit dem "nicht-binär" ist immerhin eine Marotte, die man so nicht finanziert (das ist ja eine relativ neue Mode). Immerhin. Und wenn diese Dame verkündet, dass sie das umgehen will (das habe ich auch schon anderweitig gehört), dann ist das eben nicht legal.

Kann mir jemand erklären, warum die taz so einen unverantwortlichen Schwurbel veröffentlicht? Ist ihr bewusst, dass Selbstmedikation mit Hormonen schwerwiegende gesundheitliche Konsequenzen für diejenigen nachziehen kann, die sie einnehmen? Hormone sind hochwirksam und keine sauren Drops, die man mal so nebenbei lutscht.

🚨ALERT: Top-ranking ecology journal Ecology Letters has published a "Viewpoint" paper titled "There is No Consensus on Biological Sex."

The authors call the "sex binary" a "simplistic and harmful ideolog[y]."

Yet they then claim that no view of sex (gamete-based, multivariate, and even "sex emininativism" that holds biological sex doesn't exist at all) is necessarily true or untrue, and that biologists should simply specify which definition they're using for practical purposes.

This is nonsensical, because every non-gametic view of sex is logically incoherent and self-refuting because they all rely on gametes as the conceptual anchor.

It claims the gamete-based definition is flawed because it isn't "inclusive of reproductive approached beyond anisogamy" and fails to "classify organisms before sexual maturity or after reproductive cessation as having a sex."

But anisogamy (reproduction via the fusion of gametes of different sizes) isn't meant to apply to isogamous organisms (organisms that reproduce via the fusion of same-sized gametes). Anisogamy and the sexes—male and female—are fully intertwined and inseparable.

Isogamous organisms don't have sexes; they have "mating types." They're different from sexes, and that's why biologists aren't "inclusive" of isogamous organisms when talking about males and females.

And the notion that a gamete-based definition doesn't apply to sexually immature individuals or individuals who have ceased producing gametes ignores that the sexes are defined by having the biological FUNCTION to produce small or large gametes—and things still have a function even when its not being currently realized.

The authors would know all this had they read the academic work of leading scholars on the gamete-based view of sex like myself,

There is No Consensus on Biological Sex

There is ongoing scientific and societal discourse on the definition of biological sex. At this critical moment when misinformation about sex is being applied to policy globally, scientific clarification is valuable. Here, we evaluate the primary approaches to defining sex and synthesise the active discourse to conclude that there is no current consensus on a definition of sex that is free of assumptions and limitations. While there is no current consensus, we do not advocate for a single definition and contend that a lack of unanimity is not inherently problematic. No matter what definitional choices are used, we provide actionable recommendations to improve accuracy when describing sex. Most importantly, regardless of scientific debates, no biological definition of sex should be used to dictate human rights.

The Detransition Wave: What Developmental Psychology Predicted All Along

The rates of detransition  - reversing a gender transition and returning to one's biological sex - are growing rapidly, particularly among young women who transitioned in their teens. Forums for detransitioners now number in the tens of thousands.

The phenomenon is not surprising. Five foundational frameworks in developmental psychology effectively predicted it. Their common message: adolescence is characterised by social contagion, conformity pressure, and identity instability. Gender identity ideology both ignored all of this and then exploited it, and young people are paying the price.

Bandura: Social Contagion is Not Self Knowledge
Bandura showed that adolescents construct identity primarily through observing and imitating others, not through genuine introspection. Online communities have created a near perfect reinforcement loop: transition narratives earn affirmation, community membership, and status. Behaviours adopted through social modelling rather than authentic self knowledge are prone to revision when the individual escapes the modelling environment. The documented clustering of transgender identification in female peer groups, consistent with Lisa Littman's research on rapid onset gender dysphoria, is a textbook Bandura phenomenon. Gender identity theory, which treats self report as the sole diagnostic criterion, has no framework for distinguishing real distress from socially transmitted identity.

Kohlberg: Conformity Is Not Conviction
Kohlberg established that adolescents reason at the conventional level, they make decisions to secure peer approval, not from independent reflection. Post conventional reasoning, which involves genuinely autonomous judgement, develops only in late adolescence and adulthood. A teenager immersed in communities that celebrate transition and frame hesitation as bigotry is operating under conditions of maximal conventional pressure. Treating that teenager's self report as a reliable clinical guide is a category error. Gender identity theory conflates conformity with conviction. Kohlberg's fifty years of empirical research show they are categorically different things.

Vygotsky: Ideological Scaffolding Shapes, Then Traps
Vygotsky showed that development is shaped by the interpretive frameworks  - the scaffold - provided by one's social environment. A young person whose every expression of distress is channelled through the single lens of gender incongruence, with all alternative explanations excluded, will construct a self understanding built from those tools. This is not support; it is ideological capture. When detransitioners describe how affirmation only environments made it impossible to consider other explanations for their suffering - trauma, autism, depression, homophobia - they are describing Vygotsky's scaffold failure. The language of gender identity does not merely describe inner experience. It constructs it.

Erikson and Marcia: Foreclosure Has Consequences
Erikson identified adolescence as requiring a protected moratorium, a period of identity experimentation before commitment. Marcia operationalised this: identities adopted without prior exploration (foreclosure) are predictably unstable and prone to crisis in adulthood. The gender medicine pathway abolishes the moratorium entirely, moving distressed teenagers toward hormones and surgery as though these were routine interventions. The detransition wave is the deferred moratorium asserting itself in adulthood, the identity work that should have occurred at fifteen happening at twenty five instead, with permanent physical consequences already in place.

Conclusion
These five empirical theories converge on the same verdict: the conditions under which a generation of young people has been encouraged to medically transition are precisely the conditions developmental psychology identifies as most likely to produce regret. Gender identity ideology proceeded as though a century of research on adolescent vulnerability did not exist. The detransition wave is the empirical reply. It will grow larger, and the reckoning - clinical, legal, and ethical - is only beginning.

Aber klar, das ist wie mit den Genesenen der Erschlaffung: das waren nie die echten Schotten. Zum Glück gibt es immer einen (kognitiven) Weg, um die Dissonanz zu umgehen. Hat halt mit Wissenschaft nichts zu tun.
