ZitatDonald Trump is under investigation for potential violations of the Espionage Act and additional statutes relating to obstruction of justice and destroying federal government records, according to the Mar-a-Lago search warrant. The disclosures, which came in an attachment to the search warrant, mark a dramatic escalation in the justice department's criminal inquiries into Trump. They represent perhaps one of the most treacherous legal and political moments faced to date by the former president.https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/aug/12/fbi-agents-trump-search-mar-a-lago-documents
ZitatTop comments on Trump forums right now are just trying to ID the specific FBI agents who were part of and signed off on the raid so they can be "helicopter passengers," a reference to Chilean dictator Augusta Pinochet murdering dissidents by throwing them out of helicopters.
ZitatZitatLindsey Graham: Where's the affidavit? We still need to see the affidavit.Republican Senators are pushing to "investigate the investigators," like the judge who signed the warrant, so they seem okay with this. Time for Republicans to make it all personal attacks against those who did their job to secure Top Secret records.

ZitatIt's all Mordor now and there's no coming back.https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a40882927/house-republicans-trump-classified-documents/
ZitatI am more convinced than ever, now that we know obstruction was on the warrant, that Trump was panicking about hiding stuff that could implicate him in something big.
ZitatMSNBC confirms that the "Espionage Act" being used in the warrant means that there was evidence that Trump had transferred information to a third party (foreign gov't or organization).
ZitatMaggie Haberman@maggieNYTNEW: At least one lawyer for Trump signed a written statement for the Justice Department asserting all docs with classified markings in the boxes had been returned after a June 3 meeting, which could explain why "obstruction" statute was listed on warrant
ZitatTrump was likely lying to his lawyers. He never lets his lawyers communicate w each other. When Trump wants to abruptly change positions, he fires his lawyers, hires new, and tells them something entirely different. It's a clear pattern. The old lawyers can't tell anyone, because they are ethically bound by client confidentiality. Plus, they are probably embarrassed they got stiffed on their last 3 invoices, too.So, if Trump lied to his lawyer who then communicated to DoJ inaccurately that Trump retained no more classified documents, I believe that lawyer and Trump have a conflict of interest and the lawyer should withdrawal from the representation. It need not be a "noisy" withdrawal.[...].. plus, lying to the DoJ/FBI is a crime and now the lawyer would otherwise be implicated in that act as a co-conspirator or abettor. Did I mention Trump's lawyer should get paid in advance and always give advice to him in writing?https://twitter.com/ml8_ml8/status/1557808930587394051
